STYLISHLY SUSTAINABLE: Fabricadabra

Local Entrepreneur Launches Line of Organic Pillows with a Worldly Flair
by Sarah Cox

Boston, MA. Having spent over a fifteen in the textile industry, Donna Halloran is considered a local expert in divisions ranging in everything from apparel and hospitality to home furnishings. Yearning for an outlet that would leave less of a carbon footprint, Halloran partnered with a few local pioneers in the furniture manufacturing industry that specialized in natural, non-toxic, organic materials sources with respect of the purist ingredients and fair treatment of workers, which allowed her to parlay her knowledge of the industry into her latest endeavor.

The result:
Fabricadabra, an online store featuring affordable organic pillows in a variety of exotic fabrics including Ikat, Suzani, Batik and African Mud Cloth to name a few. Sourced from artisans around the world utilizing pure and ancient techniques for dying and weaving fabrics, each cover is created using natural dyes and woven on handlooms, and ranges in price from $35-$66 per cover.

In addition to the covers, Fabricadabra also features
Kapok inserts. Kapok, a silky-down made from the seeds of a silk cotton tree, is lightweight, hypoallergenic, odorless and resistant to mold and mildew, a great option for people with allergies.
